There's no Heaven . like Hell.Faced with losing Pandora Productions as well as her best friend Rebecca to the smarmy Paul, savvy film executive Debbie makes a pact with the demon Shaker, agreeing to bind herself to him as his human master in return for killing Paul and securing Pandora’s future. Yet even as Pandora gains accolades and renown, Debbie’s strong resolve begins to crumble under the weight of her actions. And the pleasure she finds in Shaker’s arms is becoming more than sex.
Is Debbie doomed to lose her heart as well as her soul to a demon who has only been waiting for the chance to claim both?
Excerpt:
When Henry saw her home that night, he didn’t step away and leave as he
usually did after she kissed him goodnight. Instead, he held her. “May I come
in tonight?” he asked gently. “I don’t want to leave yet.”
Debbie smiled faintly, then said the words she’d mentally rehearsed all
though dessert. “I’m sorry, but I can’t let you, Henry.”
Henry blinked in surprise at her refusal. “Why not?”
Debbie wiped the fake smile off her face, and let some of her real
anguish show through. “The last man I was involved with was…he was married,
Henry. It ended badly. And I swore after that I wasn’t going to have any casual
love affairs—”
“This isn’t casual,” Henry persisted. “You must know that, Debbie. I’m
very serious about you.”
“I’m not saying this to hurt you,” Debbie said, flushing again. “I just
made a promise to myself that I wasn’t going to leap into any more
relationships until I was absolutely ready. And I’m not.” She touched his
cheek gently. “But I will be soon, Henry. Please give me a little more time.”
Henry looked disgruntled, but he nodded. “I understand.” He stepped
back, his smile gone. “I’ll call you.” He walked away quickly to his car.
He’d known I was lying to him. It was all over his face.
Debbie fumbled for her keys, and shoved them into the lock, nearly
breaking them off in her haste to get inside. She shut the door hard, the roar
of Henry’s car driving away loud in her ears. The finality of it broke
something inside her and she fell against the door, beginning to sob. Her legs
buckled.
Shaker’s arms materialized around her before she hit the floor. “Shh,
Mistress. I’m here.”
“I can’t do this,” Debbie sobbed. “I can’t do this anymore, Shaker.”
“Shh,” Shaker said, picking her up in his arms. He kicked the door shut with
his hoof, then carried her into her bed, laying her down. He undressed her to
her underwear, then pulled the blankets over her, flipping on the air
conditioning.
“Leave me alone,” Debbie cried. “Leave me alone tonight.”
Shaker paused, then turned to her. “Are you sure, Mistress?”
Debbie sobbed, and didn’t answer.
Shaker moved to the door, then turned to her, his red eyes glowing in
the gloom. “Get some sleep,” he said, flipping off the light. “Tomorrow is
another day.”
